The Nicolai is a plant from the Strelitzia genus originating from South Africa. This tropical exotic looking plant is also very common in other warmer climates around the world but in the UK is only able to grow indoors.
Being from sunny South Africa, I like full sun if possible but I'l also be okay in a north facing window with some morning light.
I don't like the cold obviously, so try and keep me in temperatures above 10 degrees celsius. I also don't like the shade, so best to keep me near a window.
In my growing season of Spring and Summer my soil likes to be moist so when the top inch is dry its time to water me. In the winter I don't take as much water so you can allow my potting mixture to dry a little bit more.
I'm not good to have around cats and dogs if they ingest me.
Comes in 12cm diameter pot and I'm roughly 35cm high from the bottom of my pot to the top of my leaves. If your patient though and can wait some years I could grow two or three metres tall.
